“We’ve got to take out the U.S. government.”

October 29th, 2009

Today we posted about extremists who want their version of Islamic law to supersede Western law.  Yesterday, the following story appeared in the Detroit News, which gives a concrete example of men pursuing this on American soil.

The leader of a Detroit mosque who allegedly espoused violence and separatism was shot and killed Wednesday in an FBI gun battle at a Dearborn warehouse…  A federal complaint filed Wednesday identified Abdullah, 53, also known as Christopher Thomas, as “a highly placed leader of a nationwide radical fundamentalist Sunni group.” His black Muslim group… wants to establish a separate state within the United States governed by Sharia [Islamic] law,

In the complaint filed in the case, Abdullah allegedly told an informant, “We’ve got to take out the U.S. government.”

As discussed in previous posts, home-grown terror does not emerge from a vacuum.  Somewhere along the way, these ideas are introduced and reinforced.  Unfortunately, one of the places this is happening is in the mosques.   The words of other clerics who share Abdullah’s views may not be as inflammatory as what he told his flock (11 of whom are in custody).  But the effects may ultimately, in the long-term, be as dangerous in their impact on American society.

Superceding Western Law - Egyptian Mother Murdered in Germany

October 29th, 2009

A man stands accused of murdering a pregnant Egyptian mother in Germany.  The crime is hideous.  A man has lost his wife; a small child has lost its mother.   The response from one Muslim cleric has been to call on German Muslims to carry out vigilante justice.  This is also hideous.  According to The Times

A fatwa [religious edict] has been issued against him [the suspected murderer] and authorities fear that he is the target of revenge for the Islamic world… The fatwa has been issued by a Sheikh Ihab Adly Abu al-Madjd in a video clip on the internet. He calls on all Muslims in Germany to take vengeance and “receive the award of Allah.”

Extraordinary measures have been taken at the courthouse where he will be appearing, including the stationing of several hundred police officers and the installation of a wall of bulletproof glass.

The authorities fear a repetition of the riots against Danish and Scandinavian institutions after the publication of cartoons lampooning the Prophet Muhammad in September 2005.

Effectively, Sheikh Madjd and extremists like him are saying that due process in the courts and parliaments is irrelevant; their version of Islamic law should supersede European law.  This is not the first time we’ve seen this kind of behavior.   Read more…

It is as if the Attempted Honor Killing Never Happened

October 26th, 2009

noor

Recently I have felt that perhaps there is a shift in the country and the media is in fact shedding more light on the threats of Radical Islam.

Today I realized I was wrong, that no such shift has occurred. Today I tried to find out what happened to that poor girl in Arizona, Noor Faleh Almaleki who was run over by her father for becoming “too westernized”. Her father is still at large and this story has not been touched since the day it happened.

Media – we want to hear from you. Why don’t you understand that we care about this girl? We want to hear updates on her status and we want to know that the police are doing everything they can to put her father behind bars.

We must demand that media cover these stories, write to your local papers and media outlets and tell them how important hearing the truth is to you and your community.

A dent in airline security

October 25th, 2009

“Don’t have your guy come down there and tell me we can’t pull more than three Arab guys out of line for additional security screening, and then tell us after 9/11 that we should have thrown five guys like that off our planes.”
—Edmond L. Soliday, former United Airlines vice president of security operations, referring to the transportation secretary’s civil-rights attorney.  Quoted in
Infiltration, by Paul Sperry

The Minneapolis St. Paul Star Tribune reports this week on a settlement reached in a case where six Muslim clerics “were removed from a U.S. Airways jet after passengers and airline employees reported that the six were engaging in suspicious behavior.”  CAIR is calling it a “victory for justice and civil rights.”  Is this “victory for… civil rights” potentially a dangerous loss for Americans of all faiths?

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, worries about the impact of a settlement reached under such circumstances…

“Terrorism operates on fear,” says Jasser.  “Transportation authorities don’t know when, where or how terrorists will strike, so they must be vigilant.” After this settlement, he adds, the men and women charged with protecting the public will have to contend with a “competing fear” as they make tough decisions: “They may ask, ‘If I detain and question someone who is acting suspiciously, will I cost my employer thousands of dollars, or even lose my job?’”

This chilling effect may lead to risky changes in airport security policies and pilot training, Jasser warns. As a result, officials may miss “vital nuances” in behavior that put the rest of us in danger.

Although the judge in this case believed that the officers were in the wrong, lawsuits have often been used by Islamist groups as a means of silencing debate, rather than protecting civil rights.  The Legal Project of the Middle East forum, commenting on several high profile cases, quotes Steven Emerson saying, “Legal action has become a mainstay of radical Islamist organizations seeking to intimidate and silence their critics.”

The case happened under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).  You can contact their director of public affairs, Patrick Hoganto voice your support for the actions airport security took to protect Americans.  Be sure to cc your local newspaper or television station, so your voice gets heard, saying that you support practices that safeguard American lives.

For more information on how Islamists are using the law as a tool, and measures being taken to counter this, you can visit the Legal Project of the Middle East Forum here.

Marriott Pathetically Defends Decision to Host CAIR

October 25th, 2009

Marrriott Crystal Gateway

This is the letter that Marriott sent out to everyone who wrote them to cancel the CAIR banquet. (See here). Needless to say the CAIR banquet was not canceled and the letter below is a complete joke. When did terrorism become a race, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation? I urge everyone to boycott Marriott and let’s work now to make sure that next year the CAIR banquet finds it difficult to find a location.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for your message. We are a hospitality company providing public accommodations. In no way do we support or endorse any group or individual by virtue of accepting their business. We embrace all people as our customers, associates, owners & franchisees, regardless of race, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Regards,

CAIR’s questionable response to Osama Bin Laden

October 22nd, 2009

On CAIR’s website, the following statement appears in a page addressing Urban Legends:

Disinformation: CAIR has not condemned Osama bin Laden

Fact: Our condemnations can be easily found on www.cair.com.

Fact: CAIR has said Bin Laden was complicit in the 9/11 attacks and condemned al-Qaeda

In a December 13, 2001 release titled “CAIR: Video Shows Bin Laden’s Complicity in 9-11 Attacks,” CAIR stated: “For anyone who was not convinced of Osama bin Laden’s complicity in the events of September 11, the content of this videotape should remove all doubt.“

In a September 11, 2006 release titled “CAIR: U.S. Muslims Repudiate Al-Qaeda Rhetoric, Worldview,” CAIR stated: “As Muslims, we will continue to condemn Al-Qaeda and ensure that the rest of the world learns the true message of Islam and its teachings of peace, justice and compassion for all” and “In light of the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we feel the need to once again condemn and repudiate Al-Qaeda and its myopic worldview.”

Does this reflect CAIR’s actual view on Osama Bin Laden and al-Qaeda? The above statement is a clear condemnation. However, as we will see, other responses by CAIR to the attacks and its perpetrators raise questions about its motivations in making the above statements, and also helps call into question its role as a representative of American Muslims. You’ve Shown You CAIR - Let’s Keep the Momentum Going!

October 21st, 2009

I want to thank everyone who is visiting this website and making the campaign to cancel the CAIR banquet at the Marriott a great success.I am thoroughly inspired by your words and I urge others to join in the cause and write a letter by clicking here. I decided to publish some comments anonymously so that others can be inspired like I have been over the past 24 hours. Here is what some of you are saying:

“Either CAIR goes, or my Marriott Card gets thrown away.”

“Is money today really more important to you, than the country your children and grandchildren grown up in?

“Please remember that we will consider your actions when we make our hotel reservations in the future.”

“If this event continues and is hosted at Marriott - I’ll not ever spend a dime to stay at a Marriott, or attend an event at a Marriott - ever, and will urge friends and families to do the same.”

“Please, don’t support radical Islam which advocates the destruction of the United States of America.”

3000 dead people on 9/11 and you provide CAIR with a platform.

“Please do not allow this radical Muslim organization that is under investigation by the FBI the use of your hotel for their meeting. This would be a dis-service to all Americans.”

“When is the good of our country going to override the greed of corporate America???”

“We will never stay in a Marriott Hotel again if you allow this front group for radical terrorists to celebrate the deceit and lies they propagandize to America.”

“Don’t let CAIR in your hotel. They are bad for America.”

Potential problems in Iran’s nuclear program?

October 20th, 2009

The Daily Star (Lebanon), citing a nuclear industry trade publication, reported that “Iran’s supply of low-enriched uranium – the potential feedstock for nuclear bombs – appears to have certain “impurities” that “could cause centrifuges to fail” if the Iranians try to boost it to weapons grade… There may be more time on the Iranian nuclear clock than some analysts had feared.”

It has also been reported in the Wall Street Journal that Iran has “agreed to ship much of its stock of low-enriched uranium abroad, a move that should temporarily curb its ability to build a nuclear weapon.”

This sounds like great news: The Iranians are incapable of making weapons grade fuel, and are sending their uranium abroad.  Does this mean it’s time to celebrate? Read more…
