The Daily Mail, published an article this weekend entitled “It’s Barbie in a burkha: World-famous doll gets a makeover to go under the hammer for 50th anniversary”

The article continues: “Wearing the traditional Islamic dress, the iconic doll is going undercover for a charity auction in connection with Sotheby’s for Save The Children. […] ‘I think this is really important for girls, wherever they are from they should have the opportunity to play with a Barbie that they feel represents them.”

The article writes that girls should have Barbies that represent them, and the article compares the Burqa Barbie to one in a wheelchair!

Someone is going to have to help me understand this one. Selling Barbies that are dressed in an outfit that hides women and treats them like second class citizens AND in order to raise money for uneducated children no less… The money will go towards Save The Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign which helps millions of children around the world affected by conflict.

Has Mattel considered that many of the uneducated children are probably from places where women are FORCED to wear burqas?

This is entirely unacceptable. How do we fight this and make a difference? We need to encourage Save the Children to refuse this disgusting money. We must tell Matel that after 50 years our Barbie-purchasing days are over.

Men like Professor Khan single out Major Malik Hasan as being a unique case; unpredictable and inexplicable.

A recent article in the Los Angeles Times shows that if we look to the root causes of incidents like this, they may not be as impossible to foresee as Professor Khan believes. Sometimes, an influential cleric, mixing political and spiritual messages, can influence others to commit terrible crimes in the name of God. Such is the case with Anwar al Awlaki, an American born cleric now living in Yemen.

Anwar al Awlaki is an extremist whose sermons have helped radicalize terrorists from Atlanta to New Jersey to London, including cases in which the U.S. military was targeted. A well-spoken Yemeni American, Awlaki has emerged as the leading ideologue for a homegrown generation of young militants who conspire over the Internet. Read more…

We must learn from Fort Hood. This was not an isolated incident! We must realize that we are faced with a serious threat of homegrown Jihad.

There is no question one can be both a proud Muslim and a patriotic American. Just ask Lamia Lahlou who joined the U.S. army in response to the 9/11 attacks. “I love America, so I fight for it — that’s my jihad,” she said. Morrocan-born Lahlou served honorably in Iraq, fighting for the country she loves.

For Ms. Lahlou and other American Muslims who have served in the armed forces, there is no contradiction between their faith and their service to their country. Unfortunately, Major Nidal Hasan, who was responsible for the recent Ft. Hood attack, was unable to similarly reconcile his faith with his role in the military.

Although it remains unclear exactly what motivated Major Hasan to breach his loyalty to his country, it’s been alleged that he may have been influenced by political Islam in his place of worship. Read more…

Our hearts go out to the family members of all those killed in a deadly shooting at the Ft. Hood Army Base on Thursday.  13 were left dead with others injured in a shooting spree.

According to reports, many of the casualties were undergoing final medical screenings before being sent off to join American forces in Afghanistan.

Details are being reported all across the media, as President Obama has called the shootings “tragic” and “a horrific outburst of violence.”

Governor Rick Perry of Texas ordered all Texas flags to be lowered to half-mast until Sunday.

While most mainstream media are being careful not declare this an act of violence motivated by radical ideology, some outlets are already reporting that the assailant was a devout Muslim, and disgruntled with the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On November 5th, a group is planning to protest against “FBI terrorism.” 1,000 attended the funeral services for Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah on October 31. He was shot by FBI agents a few days earlier. Groups to demonstrate at Federal Building, a workers websites reports:

“In response to the assassination of Imam Abdullah, the Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI) has called for a mass demonstration outside the federal building in downtown Detroit on Nov. 5, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The demonstration is designed to both condemn the assassination of the Islamic leader as well as demand an independent investigation into his death at the hands of the FBI.”

What is FBI terrorism anyways? Why was the Imam armed?

We need to be grateful that the FBI is working to protect us from more terrorist attacks. Attend the protest and show your support for the FBI. Thank them for putting their lives at risk every day so that we are safe.

Yesterday, Staten Island was home to a disturbing, yet unique event. The New York Post reported:

“In what may be the first recorded instance of a Muslim wife attempting to murder her husband for not being pious enough, a Staten Island woman was charged this week with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Rabia Sarwar, a 37-year-old Muslim, said she did it because her husband, a 41-year-old Pakistani native, enjoyed booze and pork and wanted her to dress in revealing clothes. (She held fabric over her face and threw a shawl over her head before leaving court on Thursday.) Rabia Sarwar allegedly stabbed her husband because he made her break Muslim laws.”

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who speaks out against radical Islam stated: “The kind of American Muslim you’re seeing now is changing — not because America is changing, but because the world is. Someone from Pakistan is coming here not for freedom, but to escape a horrible situation. [Once here], they are being radicalized.”

“Imani also believes that the fear and loathing of the West tends to be a generational thing; kids born and raised in America by Muslim immigrants tend to reject such orthodoxy, while older Muslims embrace it. “In the privacy of their home, Muslim parents will call every American woman a prostitute, every man corrupt,” Imani says. “People who are 20 and over, who have lived in Muslim countries — they cannot handle American culture. This case is very new, very rare. But you haven’t seen anything yet.” “
