Harvard Chaplain on Muslim Apostates

May 27th, 2009

Taha Abdul-Basser, an Islamic Harvard chaplain and a Harvard grad (’96), just made a big stir on the blogosphere with comments about capital punishment for Islamic apostates.

Taha Abdul-Basser

Taha Abdul-Basser

Reading some of the press, you might be left with the impression that Mr. Abdul-Basser was espousing vigilante justice and random killings.

It’s not true.  If you read his full statement, he was discussing capital punishment only in the context of state authority.  His words were:

“This
[capital punishment] can only occur in the domain and under supervision of Muslim governmental authority and can not be performed by non-state, private actors.”

Listen, Texas and Louisiana are governmental authorities, and they impose capital punishment.  There isn’t a Muslim government at Harvard, for the time being.

The problem, however, is two-fold.

First, these states mete out this punishment for murdering people, not for free thinking.

Second is that a popular belief in the Muslim world today is that a worldwide Caliphate should be established.  That translates as a Muslim governmental authority throughout the world – including the United States.  Popular US Islamic personalities such as Abdul Alim Musa and Imam Johari Abdul Malik – the first Islamic chaplain at Howard University, espouse this belief loudly and clearly.

That makes Mr. Abdul-Basser’s comments much more relevant.

So, does Mr. Abdul-Basser pray for a worldwide Caliphate - the rule of Islamic law over the United States?

If so, that is tantamount to advocating the execution of thousands of US Muslims for the heinous crime of free thinking!

If so, the Harvard chaplain would be advocating the state-sponsored, Sharia-justified slaughter of thousands of Americans for exercising a right and privilege that we now take for granted in the US - freedom of religion.

Homegrown Threat in the Heartland

May 13th, 2009

I bet you think that terrorism is one of those things for faraway peoples in faraway lands.

Well, if that’s what you think, then guess what? You would be wrong. 100 percent wrong!

Read the latest headlines.

Oussama Abdullah Kassir was convicted by a federal jury in New York on Tuesday, May 13, 2009 for building a terrorist training camp on U.S. soil.

Some pundits call it Homegrown Jihad, others call it a homegrown threat – training the locals to destroy America from within. This was no threat. It was the real thing.

Probably a recent development, right? Something new? A first siting? No, for sure not.

Oussama was convicted this week, but the terrorist training camp was built and operated way back in 1999. Before Y2K. Before 9/11. Before George W. A full decade ago.

Mr. Kassir was convicted of supporting the al-Qaeda terrorist group by building his terrorist training camp. The Washington Post reported that Kassir traveled to Bly, Oregon in 1999 and created a military-style facility under the direction of Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri. Al-Masri, the leader of the Finsbury Park mosque in London, has been designated a terrorist by the U.S.

Is this an isolated event? Check out the facts. Look here to learn more about the growing number of U.S. Muslim enclaves built across the U.S.

If you think this demands action, at the very least a campaign to educate our friends and neighbors about the state of our State, then become a part of our community. Register now and speak out. We want to hear from you.
