"U.S. sees homegrown Muslim extremism as rising threat"
It’s official: The U.S. is facing a rising threat from homegrown extremism. The LA Times, quoting Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, reports
"We've seen an increased number of arrests here in the U.S. of individuals suspected of plotting terrorist attacks, or supporting terror groups abroad such as Al Qaeda… Home-based terrorism is here. And, like violent extremism abroad, it will be part of the threat picture that we must now confront."
The story does not state whether or not Napolitano has assessed a source to the rising threat, or whether she believes it to be a general crisis which cannot be attributed to any particular groups or ideological motivations.
A number of highly publicized recent cases have been tied directly or circumstantially to Islamist extremism.
"People [are] focused on the idea that we're different, we're better at integrating Muslims than Europe is," said Zeyno Baran, a scholar at the Hudson Institute, a think tank in Washington. "But there's radicalization -- especially among converts [and] newcomers, such as the Somali case shows. I think young U.S. Muslims today are as prone to radicalization as Muslims in Europe."
If the rising threat is tied to Islamist extremism, only by engaging in a direct dialogue on the issue will solutions to this challenge be found.
By ignoring root causes, at most we can diminish the risk of attacks and do damage control afterwards; but we will not solve the problem.

Moslem influence is increasing on a daily basis - resist defend your freedom
Extremist Moslem influence is increasing on a daily basis.
Unless the world unites to defend their rights, freedom and democracy. We see a diminished capacity to express ourselves and defend our freedom and our rights as free citizens of the world.
We must unite to resist the influence and domination of Moslem extremists. Moslem extremists should be exterminated from the face of the earth; they preach hate and destruction of anyone who is not a Moslem. They utilize threats and terrorism to advance their goals.
World wake up the Moslem extremist domination is progressing with little resistance.
Any leader religious or otherwise preaching terrorism, hate, destruction, annihilation of other human beings – should be erased from the face of the earth ASAP.
People should note that the majority of conflicts throughout the world involve Muslims.
Life is too precious, people should learn to live with each other and respect every individual’s belief – not promoting violence, death and destruction.
You should make it a habit to send an email complaint to at least one representative of government, human rights, etc. each day. Never miss the opportunity to challenge religious hate, especially Muslim hate. WE must not simply rid ourselves of the Muslim threat (a Global Islamic Empire) we must rid ourselves of religion. Democracy and freedom are based upon a secular culture of education, science, and respect for peace.
