We already have barbie dolls with silicon breats, that tell the kids how they should be when they are big. Isn't it better to learn them something good instead of them becoming blonde bimbos?

It doesn't surpise me that Mattel would come out with an idiotic toy like this.
They aren't educated on just what shari'a means.
I recommend that a letter of petition is posted on the internet and that it be signed by all concerned and then sent to Mattel.
They should become aware of what this means for women's rights and understand how demeaning this toy is. It's not cute at all.

This does not surprise me. Why don't the arab ladies revolt?..... that was a silly question as they'd hang at the end of a rope! If they get their freedom to travel they should head to an unknown village AFTER they have changed clothes on the exit flight. muslim Women must try hard to escape the tyranny of their men-folk... unless of course, they love their husbands, but that is very doubtful since they are sold off by their fathers for a 'fistful of dollars'.

Sharia law violates all standards of basic human rights. Having said that some woman choose & prefer traditional dress and some woman choose more traditional roles as woman, some woman choose and prefer a more modest way of presenting themselves to the world. This is not popular in American or Muslim culture but it also is part of a womens right to choose which I think is a point that gets lost in the battle. A woman can be very liberated and coose the cloth her body a manner different than what the current culteral definition ofliberation is. The key word is choce. Lets keep mindful of that.

maybe Mattel needs to make them with a pull-string. Every time a girl pulls the string the doll says "please help me get out of this suit" in arabic.

I was thinking of what could be Burkha Barbie's extras. You know how companies like to sell extra stuff - a pile of stones and a whip.

maybe we could put Ken in there with his whip. And make them all with easily removable hands, feet, eyes and arms. Maybe even include a noose for hanging.

I just wrote to corporate.communications@mattel.com (the only email address I could find) and wrote to him the following email: Basically, Mattel Corporation is caving in to Sharia laws, the cause of human rights disasters around this world and that is even being brought to our Western lands. Why this is detrimental to all free thinking peoples in this world, even your own children is what I will try to explain.

To get a hurried profit without knowing the consequences of creating an abomination such as burka Barbie isn't the way any free thinking person would want to do especially if you are setting up yet another avenue for Sharia to creep into our society. Take note how much business your company does with any other Barbies in Muslim lands. If you want to eventually delete all other Barbies and narrow your business down to nothing you will continue to put out such things as burka Barbie, let me tell you why:

Sharia laws are the laws that Muslims work to making the laws of all of our countries because they think that they are from their god and that they are superior to our man made laws.

Sharia laws for women include the following (this can be gottein from the Reliance of the Traveller which is fashioned after their Koran and other Islamic texts)
- women are discriminated against as is the kufir, or unbelievers (non-Muslims)
- no personal freedom, they are at the beck and call of their males - fathers, brothers, relatives, and husbands.
- must obey or be beaten up... or worse
- husbands determine who their friends can be and even determine if the woman can visit her parents.
- must have sex with husbands whenever his needs arise, any manner, and any place.
- divorce them at will and can only divorce him with his permission
- all issued children are property of husband.
- women are not to be educated to a high standard since their major functions is to keep home and care of the husband, procreate, raise the kids
- not allowed to drive unaccompanied
- witness of 2 women are required in evidence of men because they have 1/2 the faculties of men.
- rape - women accused of bringing it on herself and so accused of adultry and stoned (sometimes hanged) to death.
- she must cover hersefl except for her face and eyes. In some places even her face is covered and yet others, even her eyes are covered.
- in many lands with Sharia laws women cannot work except in the medical sector. And if they work in other fields, it is up to their owners (her males)
- cannot go outside if her owner says no.
- if she does work outside the home and has to carpool she cannot sit next to the driver.
- stylish dress and decorations are forbidden
