Newt Gingrich: Ban Shariah in America [with VIDEO]

By Robert Spencer

Just before his stunning victory in the South Carolina primary, Newt Gingrich drew the ire of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the deceptive Islamic supremacist group that bamboozles many with its pose as a neutral civil rights organization.  Gingrich, fumed a CAIR spokesman, was "one of the nation's worst promoters of anti-Muslim bigotry."  How did Gingrich earn this dubious honor?  By telling the truth about Islamic law, and making clear his determination to resist it.

It all started last Tuesday, when Gingrich took a question about whether he would ever endorse a Muslim for President.  "It would depend,” Gingrich answered, “entirely on whether they would commit in public to give up Sharia,” the Islamic legal code that mandates stonings, amputations, and restrictions on the freedom of speech and freedom of conscience, and institutionalized discrimination against women and non-Muslims.

"A truly modern person who happened to worship Allah would not be a threat,” Gingrich continued, but “a person who belonged to any kind of belief in Sharia, any effort to impose it on the rest of us, would be a mortal threat."   He even came out in favor of a federal law banning the use of Sharia in American courtrooms.

Gingrich also displayed an admirable grasp of the realities of Sharia, noting that the “rising Islamization of Turkey has been accompanied by a 1,400% increase in women being killed,” and pointing out other negative manifestations of Sharia:  “The application of Sharia in places like Iran … churches being burned in Nigeria and Egypt, and … the decline of Christians in Iraq from a million, 200 thousand, when the Americans arrived, to about 500,000 today.”

Gingrich concluded:  "I think the time has come for us to have an honest conversation about Islamic radicalism.  I don't think we should be intimidated by our political elites, and I don't think we should be intimidated by universities who have been accepting money from the Saudis and who, therefore, now have people who are apologists for the very people who want to kill us."

This isn’t the first time Gingrich has challenged politically correct pieties so directly, and spoken so forthrightly about the realities of Islamic law.  In August 2010, Gingrich made a point that our political elites of both the Left and the Right have still largely failed to grasp:  “This is not a war on terrorism.  Terrorism is an activity. This is a struggle with radical Islamists in both their militant and their stealth form. … One of the things I am going to suggest today is a federal law, which says no court anywhere in the United States under any circumstance is allowed to consider Sharia as a replacement for American law.”

In response to his statements last week, CAIR, which has several of its former officials imprisoned for various terror-related activities, thundered that Gingrich's “outdated political ideas look backward to a time when Catholics and Jews were vilified and their faiths called a threat."

There is just one problem with this:  Catholic and Jewish immigrants to the U.S. never had a political and social system that they considered superior to the American model.  Catholic and Jewish organizations were never working to undermine the American system in the manner of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is dedicated, in its own words, to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house.”

Gingrich would be foolish to ignore that threat or bow to CAIR’s demands to ascribe concern about it to “bigotry.”  CAIR characterized Sharia as teaching “marital fidelity, generous charity and a thirst for knowledge," but left out the unpleasant bits.  Anyone who wants to see what Sharia is like can look to the states where it is implemented, such as Saudi Arabia and Iran.  Western apologists for Sharia claim that it is so multiform that it has no particular character that anyone can point to.  In reality, wherever and whenever Sharia has been implemented, historically and today, it has looked pretty much the same, and has contained elements absolutely inimical to Western notions of freedom and human rights.

Newt Gingrich is one of the few major politicians to acknowledge that the problem America faces today from Islamic jihadists is not simply one of terrorism, but of a larger attempt to insinuate elements of Sharia into American society and to assert the principle that where Sharia and American law conflict, it is American law that must give way.  Gingrich is determined not to allow this principle to advance.  Bravo.

2/22/12 Obama Purges Mention of Muslims in Counter-Terrorism Training Materials

The Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano recently released a security report that mentioned the word Muslim once.

by Jim Kouri

In yet another curtsy to the politically correct orthodoxy, President Barack Obama's White House plans to tinker with federal police curriculums for counterterrorism training classes, according to a Beltway public-interest organization.

The first bit of "revamping" is the removal of all material that groups, such as the Council on American Islamic Relations , or CAIR, find offensive or containing a "negative" image  of Muslims.

It’s a government-wide call to end Islamophobia, according to a blog by a Washington, DC-based watchdog group that investigates, exposes and prosecutes government corruption.

A few months after the Obama White House ordered an investigation of government counterterrorism training, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has destroyed instructional material that characterizes Muslims as prone to violence or terrorism, according to the Judicial Watch blog.

2/14/12 Anatomy of a Smear: CAIR's Attack on The Third Jihad and the NYPD [with VIDEO]

The director of The Third Jihad, Wayne Kopping, has made a video documenting the smear campaign being waged against the film by CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, and The New York Times.

In connection with New York University's Brennen Center for Law, The New York Times launched a full-scale attack on the film January 24, a year after the Village Voice "broke" the story that the film was being used in training sessions for the New York City Police Department.

The film documents the "cultural jihad" being waged by much of the Muslim leadership in America today. Citing documented sources and expert testimony, the film is careful to report factual evidence.

In an eerie reminder of the focus of the film itself, CAIR, an organization with proven links to terrorist organizations, has tried to get the NYPD Chief of Police (who appeared in the film) fired and have   "deprogramming" sessions instituted by the NYPD. They have already been successful in getting the film yanked from the training sessions, after NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Chief Ray Kelly succumbed to pressure from CAIR and other Islamist groups.

Why Is HAMAS Inside Tampa Schools?

by:
Clare Lopez

Kelly Miliziano, who teaches history classes at Steinbrenner High School in the Tampa, Florida area apparently thinks it’s perfectly OK to invite a senior official of a HAMAS-affiliated organization into her classroom to discuss Islam with her students. According to local media reports, not only has this been going on for years, but in spite of the civil and criminal proceedings that could result from such reckless negligence, the Hillsborough County school superintendent, Mary Ellen Elia, and the chairman of the school board, Candy Olson, also expressed approval for students under their responsibility to be exposed repeatedly to guest speaker, Hassan Shibly, who is the Executive Director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the Tampa area.

And why is CAIR a problem? CAIR is an Islamic organization that was listed by the Department of Justice (DoJ) as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) HAMAS terror funding trial more than three years ago. According to the DoJ evidence submitted in that trial, CAIR was irrefragably demonstrated to be an element of the HAMAS Palestine Committee in the U.S. HAMAS, of course, is the Palestinian off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza and a U.S.-government-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. Therefore, it is readily appreciated that CAIR is actually HAMAS doing business in the U.S. under another name. Based on that evidence as well as the unanimous guilty verdict for the HLF defendants in the 2008 trial, the FBI severed all ties with CAIR the following year.

Now, as noted above, the individual to whom world history teacher Kelly Miliziano has exposed dozens of her Steinbrenner High School students holds a senior position with the CAIR operation in Tampa. As CAIR’s top representative in Tampa, Hassan Shibly is a ranking official of an organization known by the FBI and U.S. justice system to be a façade for HAMAS, a vicious terror organization sworn to the destruction of the State of Israel, which seized power in Gaza in bloody coup in 2007 and has since implemented strict Islamic law there.

Amputation, flogging, stoning and crucifixion are all part of the HAMAS legal code. To date, and for reasons best known to itself, the DoJ has failed to prosecute CAIR or any of the hundreds of other Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated co-conspirators in the HLF case—which helps to explain why there even is a CAIR organization in existence in Tampa, Florida today. As a teacher of world religions and educator of impressionable young minds, Ms. Miliziano has a professional responsibility to know her subject matter and, equally importantly, to thoroughly vet those guest speakers allowed direct contact with her Steinbrenner High history students.

As anyone who has actually studied the history of Islam knows, shariah law commands all Muslims to engage in jihad, which is warfare to spread Islam (per The Reliance of the Traveller, A Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law, Section o9.0, pg. 599). In obedience to shariah, the Muslim Brotherhood’s motto states:

Allah is our objective

The Prophet is our guide

The Qur’an is our law

Jihad is our way

And Dying in the Way of Allah is our highest aspiration.

Unfortunately for Ms. Miliziano and her unsuspecting students, that same Classic Manual of Islamic Law (also called the ‘Umdat al-Salik and easily available online), contains an entire chapter dedicated to Lying and Taqiyya. As may be read there, Muslims are obligated to lie to the enemy in wartime…which means that any devout Muslim, faithful to the doctrine and law of Islam, is taught and trained to lie to the kuffar (infidel) as part of routine “religious” studies. There is nothing anywhere to suggest that Hassan Shibly is anything but a devout and faithful Muslim. The problem with bringing him in to teach "infidel" students about Islam would seem rather apparent at this point.

But to continue with just a bit more of the history lesson for the hapless Ms. Miliziano: HAMAS, founded in 1987, asserts its genocidal raison d’être in the opening paragraph of its Covenant:

Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors.

And yet, history teacher Miliziano still would be remiss were she to have ended her studies here. For among the documents placed online by the Texas federal judge in the HLF HAMAS terror funding case (in which CAIR was named unindicted co-conspirator), is one of relatively recent origin, dating back only to 1991. It was written by one of the top Muslim Brothers in the U.S. at the time and is called the “Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America.” Had this teacher of history actually read this short but historically speaking, vitally important document, she would have found the following passage:

The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions.

And had Ms. Miliziano been exceptionally diligent, she might even have learned that all the top leaders of al-Qa’eda were members of the Muslim Brotherhood first: Usama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, just to name a few. Today’s Muslim Brotherhood is led by dedicated followers of the founders, Hassan al-Banna and Sayyed Qutb, who openly advocated violence and terror to seize power. Yousef al-Qaradawi is known as the “spiritual leader” of the Brotherhood and returned from exile to a rapturous welcome from a million Egyptians in Tahrir Square just a week after President Hosni Mubarak was ousted in February 2011. Al-Qaradawi is on record sanctioning suicide bombings against Israelis and has called for application of strict Islamic law (shariah) in Egypt.

Since the Muslim Brotherhood swept early 2012 parliamentary elections, calls for re-instatement of the dhimmi system (including payment of the jizya by Christians and Jews), and abrogation of the Camp David peace treaty with Israel have been heard from top Brotherhood leadership with increasing insistence.

With so much information so readily available in the open source historical record, it is a real puzzle why Ms. Miliziano would have permitted a representative of such groups--CAIR, HAMAS, the Muslim Brotherhood—to come anywhere near Steinbrenner High students. It may not be expected that the school superintendant or school board chairman would be aware of each and every guest speaker invited into her district schools; however, when concerned citizens, including representatives of the Florida Family Association, led by David Cantor, go to the trouble of directly addressing a school board meeting with the critical information about one of those speakers, Hassan Shibly; create a website (The Education Coalition) dedicated to such information; and even present a personal letter about CAIR, HAMAS, and the Brotherhood written by a highly-respected former FBI agent and expert on the Muslim Brotherhood—then there is no longer any legal alibi for not knowing this information.

Parents of Steinbrenner High school students: Don’t you want to know why Ms. Miliziano, Ms. Elia, and Ms. Olson allow your children to be placed in direct contact with someone representing such Islamic groups and such Islamic ideology? In the interests of exposing students to a broad range of real world perspectives, would it not be better to teach them the factual foundational tenets of the Islamic supremacist belief system (which is dedicated in its own words to fighting, killing and dying in a quest to conquer the world), rather than bringing in someone like Hassan Shibly, who (if he indeed is a devout practicing Muslim), is obligated to lie about Islam to your students? Surely there are many outstanding experts on Islam, Islamic history and Islamic law, doctrine and scripture who could provide an exceptional—and accurate--presentation for this unit of history. Suggestions gladly provided upon request.

1/25/12 ‘The Third Jihad’ Producers Respond to New York Times Articles

Documentary recently pulled from NYPD counterterrorism training;
Times articles filled with innuendo and inaccuracies

The New York Times has sharply criticized the New York Police Department for using the critically acclaimed documentary The Third Jihad: Radical Islam’s Vision for America in counterterrorism training.

The New York Times has published two news articles (http://tinyurl.com/nyt-ttj1, http://tinyurl.com/nyt-ttj2), as well as an editorial entitled “Hateful Film” (http://tinyurl.com/nyt-ttj3) in the past 48 hours.

In response, film producer Raphael Shore has issued the following statement:

“We regret that the film has been taken out of the counterterrorism training program of the NYPD.  The New York Times stories are proof positive that the Clarion Fund’s high-quality and impactful documentaries touch very sensitive nerves.

Those that have blasted the film are attempting to stifle an important debate about the internal state of the Muslim community in America, and whether politicized Islam and indoctrination pose tangible security threats.

We hope that individuals will acknowledge the inaccuracies presented by the New York Times, and the effects that organizations like CAIR have on the fine line between political correctness and honest debate.

We invite the general public to watch and judge the documentary for themselves.  The Third Jihad is now being made available for free viewing online at http://www.thethirdjihad.com.”

According to the New York Times, nearly 1,500 officers, “from lieutenants to detectives to patrol officers” reportedly were shown the film during a period of between three months and a year.

The story of the film’s usage by NYPD was first reported by the Village Voice a year earlier, and police stopped using the film when pressure was asserted by local Islamic organizations.  Pressure continued until the New York Times propelled the year-old story to front-page news yesterday.

CAIR is taking credit for the “investigation” which led to the New York Times’ coverage, with a press release (http://tinyurl.com/nypd-cair) demanding that the NYPD install Muslim-sensitive materials in their training curriculum to offset what they consider to be an ‘Islamaphobic’ film.

Innuendo

What CAIR and the New York Times failed to clearly address, is that The Third Jihad is narrated by a devout Muslim, who has a significant record of serving the United States of America, as a medical officer in the US Navy and as an attending physician to the US Congress.

The beginning of the film states in bold letters that, “This is not a film about Islam.  It is about the threat of radical Islam.  Only a small percentage of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims are radical.”

The film’s message urges the Muslim community to look within itself to root out the indoctrination that affects a minority of Muslims.

The documentary is founded on credible evidence presented by the FBI of a “Manifesto” published by radicals calling for the implementation of extremist ideology—both violent and politicized—within the United States.

It is no surprise that CAIR does not like the content of the film.  CAIR is singled out in the film for its direct ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, open support for Hamas, and links to terror financing.

CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial, the largest ever terror-financing trial in US History.

As a result of these designations, the FBI has formally ceased all ties with CAIR—as should the NYPD and New York Times.

The NYPD is well aware of the threats that emanate from Islamic radicals.

In the preface to a landmark 2007 NYPD Intelligence Division Report entitled “Radicalization in the West: The Homegrown Threat,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly writes, “New York City continues to be the one of the top targets of terrorists worldwide.  Consequently, the NYPD places a priority on understanding what drives and defines the radicalization process.”

The Third Jihad takes an in-depth look at the process of radicalization and indoctrination taking place on American soil.

It is clear that senior members of the NYPD saw value in the film, as did employees of the Federal Homeland Security department, who first gave the DVD of the film to the NYPD.

Inaccuracies

The Third Jihad features exclusive interviews with some of the nation’s leading counterterrorism experts including former Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey, former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

According to the New York Times, Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman said, “that filmmakers had lifted the [Kelly] clip from an old interview.”

This is the first of several inaccuracies to appear in the New York Times’ account.

The makers of The Third Jihad conducted a nearly 90-minute exclusive interview with Commissioner Kelly specifically for the film on March 19, 2007.  Previously unreleased bonus clips of Kelly’s interview are currently available at http://www.thethirdjihad.com.

Responding to a letter by film producer Raphael Shore, Browne then corrected the record in the New York Times follow-up article.  “I recommended in February 2007 that Commissioner Kelly be interviewed,” he said.

Browne recalled that the film’s interviewer, “asked to speak to the commissioner for a cable film on ‘foiled terrorist plots and the current threat matrix.’”

Several other inaccuracies appear in the article.   For example, the New York Times notes that the film includes a doctored photo of the White House with an Islamic flag atop.  But the photo is one of many pieces of documented footage from Islamist sources.  Yet the New York Times implies that the filmmakers were the ones to manipulate the photo.

The New York Times also inaccurately quotes the film by stating: “'This is the true agenda of Islam in America,' a narrator intones.”  But the actual quote from the film is: “This document shows the true agenda of much of Muslim leadership here in America.”

The article intentionally omits that this narrator is Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim.

The rest of the New York Times’ coverage focuses on character assassination.  While CAIR and others label the film Islamophobic, it is ironic that the film’s detractors continuously point out that the film’s producer has ties to Jewish organizations.  The article inaccurately claims that Raphael Shore simultaneously works for Aish HaTorah.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg questioned the judgment of that those who permitted the usage of the film.  However, Bloomberg’s predecessor Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who is also interviewed in the film, has praised the documentary calling The Third Jihad, “a wake up call for America.”

12/8/11 U.S. Court of Appeals Uphold Holy Land Convictions

The U.S. Court of Appeals for Fifth Circuit in Texas has upheld the convictions of five jihadists behind the Holy Land Foundation, the piggy bank set up by the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S., under the guise of “charity,” to fund Hamas to the tune of tens of millions of dollars during the deadly intifada in Israel.
Ghassan Elashi, a Holy Land Foundation founder, received 65 years for support of Hamas, money laundering and tax fraud. Shukri Abu Baker, who was Holy Land's CEO, received 65 years for support of Hamas, money laundering and tax fraud. Mufid Abdulqader, was a top volunteer fundraiser received 20 years, Abdulrahman Odeh, who started Holy Land's office in New Jersey, received 15 years in prison and Mohammad El-Mezain, an imam who ran Holy Land's office in California, received 15 years in prison for providing support to Hamas.
The HLF, once the largest Muslim charity in the United States, had been under investigation for years before it was shut down by the Bush administration months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The investigation into the activities of the Holy Land Foundation also uncovered an internal memorandum in which the Brotherhood’s American leadership asserted:
The Ikhwan [i.e., the Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers, so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.
The three-judge panel’s unanimous 170-page opinion recounts that Hamas was created by Brotherhood operatives in 1987 as the Brotherhood’s “Palestinian branch.” Thereafter, “the Muslim Brotherhood directed its world-wide chapters to establish so-called ‘Palestinian Committees’ to support Hamas from abroad.” In the U.S., the “Palestine Committee” was led by Mousa Abu Marzook (who, for a time in the early Nineties, actually ran Hamas from his home in Virginia). The Palestine Committee created not only the Holy Land Foundation but a number of other Islamist entities in the U.S. The leaders of one of those entities, the Islamic Association for Palestine, subsequently created CAIR — the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which was cited as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.
