Are Muslims Exempt from Health Insurance? ObamaCare Confusion Continues

There have been some stories that have surfaced that claim that Amish and Muslims will be exempt from the newly passed healthcare plan. Much of the debate has linked back to this American Thinker article. Is insurance being un-Shariah a known thing? Does anyone have any particular examples of this? There are many instances when insurance is necessary, for renting cars, renting apartments, etc., so what do Muslims do? Have there been many cases of this before? Also, what will happen to the uninsured Muslims? This is definitely a let's stay tuned to see what happens situation, but if anyone has any insight or knowledge of this issue (beyond the American Thinker blog), let's hear it!

Citizens Against Citizens Against Humor Stand Up for South Park Creators

I am sure most of you have heard about the latest South Park drama. Basically, creators Matt Stone and Trey Park depicted Mohammad in a bear costume in the 200th episode of the show. They said that the joke was that he had to be in a suit because they couldn't portray him otherwise. As it turns out they basically received death threats anyways. Now, the site revolutionmuslim.com that initiated the threats has now been hacked. Sounds too funny to be true? It gets better. Now an organization called "Citizens Against Citizens Against Humor" have announced that May 20th will be Everybody Draw Muhammad Day. In the poster below you can see that their goal is to water down the pool of targets and defend the first amendment. First off all, this is an extremely creative way to stand up for freedom of speech. We should continue to look for creative and smart ways to get our point across. However, is it possible this is going to far? Can we come up with a better way to protect our rights and freedoms without being offensive?

Leaving Islam? Controversial Bus Ads Win in Miami

Bus ads in Miami offer support to those interested in leaving Islam. The ads went up and then were quickly pulled down as CAIR claimed they were anti-Islam. After a week of controversy, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller announce a "major victory for free speech and religious freedom."

leavingislam

Is this sort of advertising anti-Islamic, to say, "Fatwa on your head?" Does it assume that all Muslims live in a situation where their families are threatening them?

Below you can discuss whether or not this bus advertisement is appropriate.

Does Jihad Jane Represent the New Wave of Terrorism?

jane1jane2 Does this woman represent the future of terrorism? We have heard about suicide bombers that were female, but a homegrown terrorist that is a woman is a rare commodity. If you haven't heard the story, check any website (CNN, LA Times, etc). What do we think? To me this just proves how dangerous and prevalent the threat of homegrown terrorism really is. Or could you just say it is a step forward for women, giving them the same opportunity to terrorize as men? I think the lesson that needs to be learned here is that we have a problem when a random American women decides to join forces with radical Muslims.

CAIR: Empowering Muslims to Ignore Terrorism

CAIR Fundraiser CAIR is raising money for a campaign launched last week: A 15 second ad in Times Square, to be seen by millions that highlights the “average” Muslim-American, including a human rights activist and a little league player. Most agree that there are moderate Muslims who are in fact “good Americans.” The issue however is the amount of effort that CAIR is putting towards highlighting Muslims as patriotic, when nowhere on their site is there any condemnation of the Flight 253 terror attack, or other terror attacks for that matter. Not only is this new campaign an attempt to show all Muslims as patriotic, CAIR exudes misplaced priorities by showing that anti-Islamic rhetoric is America’s biggest problem. Forget the threat to our national security. I checked out the press release section to see their response to the huge increase in homegrown terrorist activity. I found nothing. What I did see, however, was a press release condemning the popular and controversial show “Curb Your Enthusiasm” for mocking Jesus. Thank you CAIR. None of us can see through your mask and we actually believe that you care how Christianity is portrayed in the media. If CAIR spent as much time denouncing terrorism as it did playing a ridiculous role of “Serving Our Country,” American Muslims would be far better off. Email CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper, ihooper@cair.com and let him know that he is doing nothing but hurting American Muslims.

'Legal Jihad' Threatening Online Journalists' Rights to Free Speech

Many know about the threats that radical Islamists pose to national security.  But many Americans simply are unaware of a non-violent Jihad taking place in the U.S.  This, potentially more dangerous threat, seeks to use and abuse the freedoms that define America against us. One of the most dangerous techniques being employed by radicals, is known as "lawfare" or "legal jihad".  You can learn more about this threat here: http://www.radicalislam.org/threat/stealth-threat/legal-manipulation Today, WorldNetDaily exposes "legal jihad" in action, following the suit of several Islamic organizations against an online journalist.

Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, "This frivolous lawsuit is an example of the legal jihad being waged by radical Islamic organizations throughout our nation. These lawsuits are aimed at stifling the free speech rights of Americans who dare to expose their agenda. They intentionally file lawsuits to intimidate reporters who seek to expose their agenda. By making it costly to defend against their lawsuits, they hope journalists will refrain from writing about the threat to our nation."

This is a dangerous threat, and one that must be understood, if we are to succeed in the fight against radicals in our country.

Signs of Bravery - Fighting Radical Islam

Two recent stories highlight citizens engaged in behaviors that, taken on their own, are unlikely to have a dramatic impact on the rest of their community.  However, at the same time, they represent feats of bravery that, in tandem with similar acts by others, have the power, over time, of helping affect cataclysmic shifts in their societies. In Tehran, lawyer Mohamed Mostafei is representing 30 of Iran’s 135 underage citizens on death row.  He was quoting in a recent Wall Street Journal describing his work, saying, "We defend and protect victims whom the law does not protect." According to the same article in the Journal, human rights have been deteriorating under the regime of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is up for re-election this month.
