Technology and Islam: "Saudi woman killed for chatting on Facebook"
News report: "A young Saudi Arabian woman was murdered by her father for chatting on the social network site Facebook, it has emerged. The unnamed woman from Riyadh was beaten and shot after she was discovered in the middle of an online conversation with a man...."
"Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food," says Saudi preacher Ali al-Maliki.
Is this the way radical Islamists inspire their youth to embrace religion and modesty?
The Sad Reality of Child Brides
Over the past week, we have heard about two extremely tragic incidents from Yemen regarding child brides. Last week a 13-year-old bride bled to death after she was married. Her husband forced her to have sex and eventually raped her to death. A few days ago, a second story surfaced of an 11-year-old girl who was hospitalized with genital injuries. In this case her husband said that he would wait until she reached puberty to consummate the marriage, but unsurprisingly he did not. In February of 2009 a law was introduced in Yemen stating that girls could not marry until the age of 17, but the law was repealed because some lawmakers viewed it as “un-Islamic.” This statement reinforces the notion of child brides is in fact supported by Islam. We often hear about these stories from human rights organizations, such as UNICEF and Oxfam, but they claim to treat these situations carefully for fear of an explosive political issue. However, we must ask: if this issue is not worth fighting against what is? Read more about these stories here and here and then make a difference. Send 5 “Did You Know” statements to your family and friends and help raise awareness about the reality of child brides. Use the space below to have a discussion and brainstorm about how we as individuals can help put an end to this horrific reality.
Does Jihad Jane Represent the New Wave of Terrorism?

Does this woman represent the future of terrorism? We have heard about suicide bombers that were female, but a homegrown terrorist that is a woman is a rare commodity.
If you haven't heard the story, check any website (CNN, LA Times, etc).
What do we think? To me this just proves how dangerous and prevalent the threat of homegrown terrorism really is.
Or could you just say it is a step forward for women, giving them the same opportunity to terrorize as men?
I think the lesson that needs to be learned here is that we have a problem when a random American women decides to join forces with radical Muslims. Cold Blooded Murderer Pardoned Because He is a Muslim!
Now the Arizona Republic is reporting that he will not face the death penalty.
Is this because they disagree with the death penalty? NO! It is because they don't want to appear racist! However, don't they realize that they are treating him differently because he IS a Muslim?
"The decision not to seek the death penalty comes after Almaleki's attorney, Billy Little, a public defender, asked a judge to take special precautions to ensure the County Attorney's Office wouldn't wrongly seek the death penalty because Almaleki is a Muslim. "An open process provides some level of assurance that there is no appearance that a Christian is seeking to execute a Muslim for racial, political, religious or cultural beliefs," Little wrote, referring to County Attorney Andrew Thomas' Christian faith...."
He admitted that he killed his daughter because she had disgraced his family. So why is he not pleading guilty. We need to find out what would have happened to a man who killed his daughter in cold blood who was not a Muslim. If Arizona would have granted him the death penalty than this murderer deserves equal punishment!

"Expecting Muslim women to be behind the reformation of Islam and Sharia, is like asking slaves to end their own slavery without their masters’ approval or asking prisoners to get out of prison without the guards opening the doors. […] For Muslim women to simply revolt against Islamic gender apartheid will be regarded as anti-man, anti-family, anti-religion, anti-government and worst of all, anti-Allah himself."Check out Nonie's take on the potential for a feminist movement in the near future here.
