Terror

Complicity In The UN

By Supna Zaidi

A couple of years ago UNICEF estimated that at least 300,000 children were involved in 30 armed conflicts worldwide. I am not talking about victims. As victims, children number in the millions from the murdered, to the maimed, left homeless or parentless internationally. UNICEF is talking about perpetrators. Children who are combatants, messengers, porters and cooks and those forced into providing sexual services. Or more accurately, children who are abducted or forcibly recruited to fight for one side in armed conflict.

African child soldiers are often discussed in the media as are little boys in left wing guerrilla forces in Latin America. No one questions their status as manipulated victims. Surprisingly, little is said about the child suicide bomber, who is kidnapped, bought, drugged or indoctrinated to not only kill others, but him or herself as well.

Why?

Yemen, the latest front in the war against terrorism, attempted to address this issue by initiating a campaign last year to end the recruitment of children with one simple message on a poster. To combat the "Believing Youth" rebel movement, a Yemen government poster depicted d a boy with detonator in one hand, and shirt raised to reveal a bomb belt around his waist, with text stating simply, "No to the exploitation of children for destructive operations and terrorism."

In a country where purportedly 50% of soldiers are children, such a campaign might seem crucial. That is until one realizes, that Yemen in the same country that hosted a Hamas run children’s festival in 2006, where children dressed as suicide bombers were paraded around and or that this is the same nation that in May of 2009 named a hospital after the first Palestinian suicide bomber.

Sure, it may be said that one’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter. But where do children fall in this debate. The Geneva Conventions dictate that no child under the age of 15 may fight in armed conflicts. The optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict sets the minimum age at 18, yet terrorism by some analysts perspective is not the same as armed conflict.
Non state actors like Al-Qaeda or the Taliban are not members of the UN, or any other international organization. They are engaged in acts of un sanctioned warfare, where even the use of the word war is debated. From strictly strategic terms, their use of children is practical. Warring with a nation like the US is uneven and asymmetric. With no tanks or nukes, these enemies will use the resources they have. As one member Taliban commander stated, "Children are tools to achieve God’s will, And whatever comes your way, you sacrifice it…"

Why is there no international outcry against such use of children? Where are organizations like Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, etc? Hamas as used children as human shields, Iraqi insurgents have been known to drug or remotely detonate children to make sure an attack goes off without a child getting scared or changing their mind.

It might be because, as the media simply puts it, the war on terror is our fault. Root causes are to blame for "their anger against us." Heaven forbid that the reference to "their" is not a reference to the people but the autocratic power hungry leadership of Islamist movements. These men do not differ from the dictators who preceded them like Saddam Hussein or anti-democratic leader after another in countries from Egypt to Pakistan.

And, "the people" in most majority Muslim countries are being force fed an anti-western, anti-semitic, and archaic worldview without any meaningful challenge from within, and total silence from the international community.

The UN has passed resolution after resolution against the use of children in armed conflicts, yet almost ten years after 9/11 has made no headlines addressing the use of children as suicide bombers in acts of terrorism. UN silence shouldn’t come as a shock considering the OIC’s successful lobbying. Its ability to censor any substantive debate on Islamist issues, 9/11, naturally segue into deterring addressing the ideology behind terrorism and its manipulation of children. Without whom, Islamists would lose a dramatic number of foot soldiers.

If they did, the UN would be forced to address nations from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan on a variety of issues from telethons for the families of suicide bombers, to madrassa indoctrination, and direct and financial support of terrorist organizations by its citizenry who naturally look the other way when the children of poorer families disappear towards an Islamist heaven that doesn’t exist.

One possible solution – Divestment. Making US support of the UN contingent on accountability towards human rights violations where the UN is complicit in supporting indoctrination of Muslim youth towards Islamism, jihadism and violence.

One simple example is UNRWA, a UN agency that has been repeatedly criticized for running schools in Gaza with Hamas approved curriculum. Rep. Rothman of New Jersey is the first American politician to push for a divestment policy against UNRWA. If successful, maybe Palestinian children can be the beginning of educational reform in the region towards something more meaningful than martyrdom.

re: Islamic approval of sex with children

Homosexuality is banned in Islamic countries and they are killed for it, but not if sex is with a pre-puberty male because boys are not yet men, so it is not man-to-man sex, so thats OK then; and sex with pre-puberty females is OK because Mohammed's favourite wife Aisha was 9 years old (he first saw her at age 6 years and agreed deal with her father), so we should all follow Mohammed's example shouldn't we?

Some people have children as a strategy for dominance
Posted by Anonymous on Mon, 2010-03-15 18:06

What is missing in the above article is the simple observation that many "families" are voluntary conduits of struggles for dominance. Not only do they raise their children to be blood lusting monsters, but they also have large numbers of them for the specific purpose of controlling demography and dominating other innocent populations. Until we confront the problem of people having children for no good reason, there is not much point in complaining about how they raise them. There is nothing inherently innocent about having babies. Blandly pointing out what they are doing to their kids is not likely to make much of impression. They know exactly what they are doing.

quote: the problem of people having children for no good reason, there is not much point in complaining about how they raise them.

this is exactly backwards. Having children in and of itself is a good and right thing. Now, once they're HERE, how parents (and those to whom they abdicate their God-given responsibility) raise them IS the issue, and the ONLY issue worthy of attention.

True enough, many moslem families raise their young to become cannon fodder in the fray.. but it is THEIR choice to send them off to such a fate, and take their innocent victims with them. Thus, the true responsibility lies with the parents. It is THEY who succumb to the pressure, indoctrination, financial remuneration, social acceptance, that pushes them to sacrifice their children on the altars of war and idealogy rather than to raise them toward good and right goals. Children are only and always what they are trained to be. Let them mature to adulthood and THEN choose whether to sacrifice themselves as terrorists, militants, mercenaries, merchants, diplomats,

I find it particularly galling that the UN push their "treaty on the rights of the child" on one hand, yet turn a wilfully blind eye to children in combat as status quo on the other. They wish to demand I never discipline my child, and have no firearms in my home, yet condone by their refusal to act the abuse of children as warriors and terrorists. The "house" of UN is divided, and thus cannot stand. Which is a good thing. The sooner we are quit of that foul organisation the better for all. Once they can no longer suck sustainence from the tit of the American taxpayer perhaps they will do the world a favour and crumble.

Islam means " One World "

Islam means " One World " Mohammad's goal was for the entire population of the world to be converted to Islam or killed !!!

Unfortunately, there are too many religions that see themselves as the only path to G'd and to Heaven.
Also unfortunate is the vast number of people killed in the name of religion. Convert or die !!!
I'll save you even if I have to kill you to do it !!!
Remember the Inquisition !!! as an example.

Good point. I would also like to add that it is only very logical that their would be only one way to the TRUE GOD. I believe that God in His wisdom saw that the heart of man is set on a path of SELF distruction because of their many different conclusions of making it to 'heaven'. God decided to provide only One Way, His son Jesus. If you believe in Him, you'll be blessed. If not, well then, you refused the only way. God made it soo simple that people who decide their must be some other way, take it upon themselves to come up with something that sounds better than Jesus.

God said do not kill, molest, steal, covet and so on. IF you take hold of His Way you'll see the wisdom and truth it will bring. Even prosperity by way of staying away from illogical and obvious distructive teaching and behavior. But no. people want something that appeals to their self distructive beliefs. Being humble is asking too much of a person who feels they have something to say and or prove. So they say, 'do not give me this Jesus talk, no time for that'. God said we shall reap whatever it is we sow. Good or bad. It is a horrendous true shame to bring up a child against what God has said. If we as a world would turn to Jesus and repent of our way, I assure you, children would be raised in an environment where there is hope and a bright future, no blood nad guns or bomds needed. .

It is true that ancient Islam advocates an authoritarian ideology. It's purpose is superority and enslavement of all non-muslims. This is racism at its core since democracy objects to the sinister ideology of extremism.

And this is where we need to call a spade a spade. The Muslims want to be called a race, they want to look at themselves as muslim first and citizens of a country second - then the organizations such as the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Hamas, and their financial and moral supporters such as the Saudis and Iran, and too many Muslim Brotherhood front groups to name in our Western nations need to be held accountable.

Stop coddling muslims. They see themselves as the umma - a sort of state within many states - then hold them ALL accountable. There is no outrage from them in any of these atrocities and only work on telling us we misunderstand islam when in fact we understand it very well and just are sick and tired of accepting their lies and whitewashing filth.

None of them actively work on changing sharia laws and only work on lying to us or bashing us if we know islam and are disgusted by it and say so.
