EMP

A nuclear device on the head of a ballistic missile can also cause a scenario sending the United States into the dark ages without exploding on U.S. soil.  An EMP or electro-magnetic pulse (also known as an e-bomb) is an explosion that instantly renders electronic devices within a large radius out of commission. This could mean that all computers, portable electronics, automobiles, medical equipment, as well as fuel and water delivery systems essentially burn-out and cease to function.  The implications of such an event, and the resulting damage are immeasurable—and could set the United States back decades in terms of technology and infrastructure development.  

An EMP bomb can lead to significant loss of life as water, food, medicine and other supplies have no way of reaching those who need them.  Americans could literally starve to death. 

Iran has successfully tested the high-altitude air burst of ballistic missiles, in other words, testing the capability of detonating an EMP.  And many argue that an EMP is a more effective, and potentially scarier scenario than an explosion directly targeting an American city. 

These scenarios are unthinkable to most.  Many simply reject the notion that Iran would consider such steps, because they don’t want to truly consider the consequences.  

Before reaching such a conclusion, though, it is important to internalize the principles of Iran’s revolution; the regime’s 30-year history of wreaking havoc through the use of terror; and their public rhetoric calling for a world without the United States. 

They Don’t Need to Push the Red Button…

And while the thought of a nuclear blast is devastating, nuclear weapons may be an even more effective tool for a revolutionary regime if they are never actually fired. The possession of nuclear weapons and the mere threat of their use is enough to create a whole host of very real problems for Iran’s neighbors, as well as for the U.S.  

Possession of nuclear weapons establishes Iran as a dominant force in a region known for instability, terrorism and the production of vast amounts of oil. The addition of a nuclear component to the equation can upset an already fragile balance of power in such a volatile region.
